The Dad’s Mood Story

Established in 2024 Dad’s Mood is Bad was setup in our kitchen in North London with the name being inspired from a fridge magnet we bought for 50p in a Crouch End charity shop.

After being in bands since the age of 10 I feel as if I know what artists require from a live show (I’m also aware of how difficult they are to work with) and decided it was only right to start running my own shows during the downtime of my musical projects.

2023 saw me move to London in an attempt to leave my boring life in Lincoln selling car parts (Sorry Hyundai, I do actually think your cars are okay, despite your dealership being situated next to the regional BMW showroom) during this time our previous promoter alias whatfromwhat was born. Hosting shows at a sold out Water Rats, Troubadour & putting together a Palestine Fundraiser at Two Palms in Hackney.

Our first show under the Dad’s Mood is Bad alias was at The Finsbury in Manor House on 14th December 2024 after a short hiatus and we started as we meant to go on, great vibes, busy room & Christmas covers! (not now, it’s almost Summer as I’m writing this) as 2025 rolled in we expanded to organising shows in Leeds and my hometown of Lincoln. Promoting artist releases and running PR for artists we manage.

Fast forward to the present, We now work in-house programming at The Finsbury as well as other venues in the Capital as per our artists requests, we run a monthly night at The Elephants Head in Camden, ran a stage at Brighton’s Alt-Escape, multiple successful club nights and afterparties and we are continuing to expand our promoting venture. I now also run a substack where we review gigs that we are involved with giving our artists something to look forward to receiving after our show is done which is something I don’t believe any other promoter is doing.
